The Voices of Our Elders
are precious and should be treasured, for they have not only
seen, but experienced and participated in some of the most
important historic events of our time. Creating Communities
recently received a small grant to document
pivotal stories in the lives of WWII and Holocaust survivors
living in Anne Arundel County.
The stories collected here
depict the memories and experiences of veterans, Holocaust
survivors, civilian spouses, and witnesses of World War II
(WWII), who currently live in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
Each story was told with passion and trust to a Creating Communities
volunteer, many of whom are high school students who had only
previously had an opportunity to read about WWII in their History
books. Many participants also shared their memorabilia and
personal photographs, which have been scanned and provided
here for you to see.
It is our hope that
you will learn from and share in the experiences presented
here. Please visit the site often as we will continue to
add new stories as they are collected.

-- Creating Communities is a non-profit organization founded
by visionary Anne Arundel County musician and artist Rob Levit
and is governed by a committed volunteer Board of Directors.
Creating Communities mission is to harness the power of the
arts to build life skills and self-esteem, and foster connections
across cultures. We accomplish this by partnering with communities
and organizations to reach the underserved and provide direct
access to the arts through innovative programs and mentorships.
