Creating
Communities is a non-profit organization
founded by visionary Anne Arundel County musician and artist
Rob Levit and is governed by a committed volunteer Board of Directors.
Creating Communities mission is to harness the power of the arts
to build life skills and self-esteem, and foster connections
across cultures. We accomplish this by partnering with communities
and organizations to reach the underserved and provide direct
access to the arts through innovative programs and mentorships.
Creating
Communities recently
received a small grant to document
pivotal stories in the lives of WWII and Holocaust survivors
living in Anne Arundel County. But the grant only takes us
so far - we need you!
You Can Help You can help by connecting
us with WWII and Holocaust survivors in Anne Arundel County
who may want to share their story. We will make the interview
process easy by being well-trained, making personal site visits
and maintaining confidentiality when requested. Our intention
is to create a free website that the general public can access
and experience stories, MP3 interview excerpts, video and photos
of these wonderful people.
On our end, we will be recruiting and training volunteers on
professional and confidential interview techniques, sharing the
interviews into cohesive narratives, seeking funding for expansion
of the project and designing a professional and easily navigable
website for the general public.
Of great importance to us is teaching
high school juniors and seniors interviewing techniques. They
need service hours to graduate
plus we feel that the elderly connecting with youth is something
that is missing in our society – we want to facilitate
a deeper connection there.
